Snoop Dogg honors his late 'mama' Beverly Tate during concert: 'Sing this record with me'

Snoop Dogg is mourning his late mother, Beverly Tate. The rapper announced over the weekend that his "angel" mother had died with heartfelt Instagram posts.
"Till. We. Meet. Again," Snoop Dogg, real name Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr., shared on Instagram Monday following previous posts about Tate.
“Mama thank u for having me 🙏🏾🌹" he shared Sunday along with a picture with his mother.
The rapper, who turned 50 this year, shared another photo of his mother, writing in the caption, "Thank u god for giving me an angel 🕊 for a mother 💖."
Hours after announcing the news on social media, Snoop performed at a concert in Boston, where he paid an emotional tribute to his mother, playing and singing along to Ben E. King's "Stand By Me."
"Before we leave, we’re gonna play this record for my mama," he told the audience at Madison Square Garden, per a video the artist shared on Instagram the next day. "I want you all to sing this record with me. Two fingers in the air. Peace sign, Boston."
USA TODAY has reached out to Snoop Dogg's reps for more information.
Snoop also posted a video of himself sitting in a dark room listening to "Giving Love" by The Voices of East Harlem along with a broken heart emoji.
Earlier, he shared a black-and-white photo of himself smiling on Instagram, sharing his mother's words.
"Walk by faith not by sight 🌹smile snoopy that’s what U would say when it was time to take a picture 💖🙏🏽 🌹"
The artist did not reveal a cause of death. He did reveal in May that his mother had been hospitalized. On July 25, Snoop Dogg posted a hospital photo next to his mother, while asking for prayers. "She opened her eyes to c us and let us know she still fighting," he wrote. "God is good."
In 1999, he released a song called “I Love My Momma,” where he listed some life lessons he learned from Tate.
"The first one to hold me / The first one to scold me / You never cease to teach me / And always try to reach me / Took me to school the first day / Taught me how to kneel, down and pray / You learned me how to count from one to ten /And never forget, where I've been.
