‘SNL’ Star Kate McKinnon Hijacks the ‘Ellen’ Monologue as Ellen
Kate McKinnon had everyone seeing double Wednesday when the Saturday Night Live star dropped by Ellen and hijacked the monologue while doing an impression of Ellen DeGeneres. McKinnon has famously portrayed the daytime host on SNL and even appeared on Ellen a couple of years ago to do the impression live for DeGeneres.
Over time, McKinnon’s impression has only gotten better, and she was back at it again on the show, throwing out Ellen-esque slang. She recounted stories about DeGeneres’s wife, Portia, and the various animals they have running around the house, making references to their “kitty kitty kitty cats.” When DeGeneres denied that she talks that way, McKinnon cut to tape showing fake Ellen repeating the phrase over and over again. It was all in good fun, and the two went on to do an interview segment later in the show.
