In addition to performing two songs as musical guest, Ariana Grande popped up in a couple sketches on the latest episode of Saturday Night Live, including one that poked fun at Moulin Rouge!

The sketch recreated scenes from the 2001 movie musical, with Grande portraying Nicole Kidman’s Satine and Bowen Yang as Ewan McGregor’s Christian. The original Baz Luhrmann film took contemporary pop songs, mashed them up, and placed them 1900 Paris. The SNL sketch also did that, but to the extreme, using Grande’s vocal talents to create ridiculous musical mash-ups.

For example, Grande and Yang segued Carrie Underwood’s “Jesus Take the Wheel” into the nursery rhyme “Wheels on the Bus” into Styx’s “Come Sail Away” into Dusty Springfield’s “Son of a Preacher Man” into Shania Twain’s “Man I Feel Like a Woman!” into “Happy Birthday to You,” all in the span of 30 seconds.

The singer also appeared during a sketch about a people pleaser support group:

Grande — who last appeared on SNL back in 2016, when she served as both host and musical guest — released her new album Eternal Sunshine on Friday. She performed a pair of tracks from the LP, “We Can’t Be Friends (Wait for Your Love)” and “Imperfect for You,” in her official capacity as musical guest Saturday night.
