‘SNL’ to Return With Back-to-Back Episodes, Tate McRae’s Musical Debut

Saturday Night Live will air two new episodes this month. As previously announced, Timothée Chalamet is set to host the Nov. 11 show with Boygenius as musical guest, while Jason Momoa will take the helm on Nov. 18 with Tate McRae making her musical debut on the late-night sketch show.
While the current SAG strike prevents actors from publicizing their work, Chalamet is ostensibly there in honor of his forthcoming film Wonka, while Momoa is promoting but not promoting Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.

Prior hosts this season have included former cast member Pete Davidson, musician Bad Bunny, and comedian Nat Bargatze, who was joined by musical guest Foo Fighters. The season has seen a few notable cameos, including Pedro Pascal, Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga, and Mick Jagger, who did his best horny nun impression.
Chalamet’s Wonka, in which the actor plays a young version of the chocolatier, arrives in theaters Dec. 15. Director Paul King previously told Rolling Stone that Chalamet was his first choice for the role, especially since the actor has a proven record of being able to sing and dance.
“It was a straight offer because he’s great and he was the only person in my mind who could do it,” King said. “But because he’s Timothée Chalamet and his life is so absurd, his high school musical performances are on YouTube and have hundreds of thousands of views. So I knew from stanning for Timmy Chalamet that he could sing and dance really well. And I knew that was in his arsenal, but I didn’t know how good he was. When I spoke to him he was quite keen. He’d done tap dancing in high school and he was like, ‘I’d quite like to show people I can do that.’”
Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, directed by James Wan, will be in theaters Dec. 22. In the film, Momoa returns to his DC superhero role as Arthur Curry, King of Atlantis, this time going up against Black Manta, played by Yahya Abdul-Mateen II. It also stars Patrick Wilson and Nicole Kidman.
McRae’s debut album, I Used to Think I Could Fly, dropped in 2022. In September, she released a new single, “Greedy,” along with a music video that embraces her Canadian heritage. McRae noted that the song was part of a “new chapter of my music.”
“I wrote ‘Greedy’ about having the confidence to know what you want,” McRae said in a statement. “I feel like this is the first time where people are seeing a feistier and more playful side of me. This song is so unexpected, and I cannot wait for everyone to hear it.”
