SNL Promos: Tom Hanks Talks Outer Space, Sips Mimosas With Leslie Jones
Tom Hanks is an old pro at this Saturday Night Live stuff. But he’s never hosted with Leslie Jones as a cast member before, so they have some bonding to do.
The eight-time SNL host returns this Saturday for his first hosting stint in more than a decade, and in this new set of promos, Jones has a few questions for Hanks. Like, what is outer space really like? He tries to explain to her that he only plays an astronaut in movies, but she won’t accept that, so he gives up and blurts out an answer: “Cold!”

Plus, Jones asks Hanks whether he’s ever been in love. (Hanks: “Yeah, I’ve been married for 28 years.” Jones: “That was not the question, Tom Hanks!”) Finally, they lounge around and enjoy a couple of mimosas together… until security guards realize they’re not supposed to be in this rooftop garden. As they flee, Jones throws in a nice Forrest Gump reference: “Run, Forrest, run!”
Hanks’ episode of SNL airs this Saturday, Oct. 22 at 11:30/10:30c, with musical guest Lady Gaga.
