Last week, the Washington Post ran a not-at-all flattering profile of Chevy Chase in which, among many other things, he talked a lot of shit about any era of Saturday Night Live that didn't feature Chevy Chase.
In a new interview with Howard Stern, noted SNL cast member and Ariana Grande fiancé Pete Davidson responded to Chase's comments about the show.
“He’s a fucking douchebag,” Davidson said. “Fuck Chevy Chase. He’s just a genuinely bad, racist person and I don’t like him. He’s a putz.”
As Davidson continued:
What has he done since ’83? Nothing. He had a big career and then it stopped because everybody realized he’s a jerkoff. He should know more than anybody. It’s disrespectful to Lorne, too, a guy who gave you a career. No matter how big you get, you can’t forget what that guy did for you.
Chase's treatment of co-stars and other people in general has been well documented over the years. Most recently, in a New Yorker profile, Donald Glover revealed Chase's racist, degrading comments to him on the set of Community. How (or if) Chase responds to Davidson's comments remains to be seen.
