SNL: Adele, Matthew McConaughey to headline Nov. 21 episode

'SNL' sets Adele as musical guest for Nov. 21 show with Matthew McConaughey

Hello, it’s Saturday Night Live with some good news: Adele will be making her return to the show as a musical guest Nov. 21 when Matthew McConaughey hosts.

This will be the first time Adele’s appeared on the show since making her SNL debut in 2008 with a performance of “Chasing Pavements” that earned a spot on EW’s list of SNL‘s 41 most memorable musical performances. Prior to that, the British singer hadn’t broken through in the U.S. just yet — but her debut album, that year’s 19made it to the top spot on iTunes the day after SNL.

Since then, Adele’s won an Oscar for “Skyfall,” the theme song she wrote and performed for the 2012 James Bond film of the same name, and 10 Grammys.

After staying out of the spotlight for a bit, Adele made her official return last week when she released the instant hit “Hello.”

As for McConaughey, it’s been a bit longer since he’s appeared on the SNL stage: The actor last hosted in 2003, back when he was more known for starring as the male lead in romantic comedies like How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days and The Wedding Planner.

Recently, McConaughey’s been leaning toward more dramatic roles, including his Emmy-nominated turn as Rust Cohle in the premiere season of True Detective and Oscar-winning performance in 2013’s Dallas Buyers ClubHe will next appear in this spring’s The Sea of Treesa Gus Van Sant-directed drama set in Japan’s Suicide Forest.

Watch the two on SNL when the episode airs Nov. 21 at 11:30 p.m. ET on NBC.
