Will Smith Transforms Into a Pigeon in Animated ‘Spies in Disguise’ First Trailer (Video)

Will Smith is going from Men in Black to wearing a different double-breasted suit. In the animated “Spies in Disguise,” Smith provides the voice for super spy Lance Sterling, who’s about to go undercover as … a pigeon.

Fox Animation’s new film has Smith lending his voice talent alongside Tom Holland, Rashida Jones, Ben Mendelsohn, Karen Gillan, DJ Khaled and Masi Oka. He plays the world’s best secret agent who’s working with a shy but brilliant young inventor (Holland), only for him to be transformed into a pigeon.

“Look at you? I can’t not look at you Walter. I can see my butt, and your face, at the same time,” Holland’s new feathered friend says in the trailer as he tries to adjust to sight as a bird.

Here’s the full synopsis:

Super spy Lance Sterling (Will Smith) and scientist Walter Beckett (Tom Holland) are almost exact opposites. Lance is smooth, suave and debonair. Walter is… not. But what Walter lacks in social skills he makes up for in smarts and invention, creating the awesome gadgets Lance uses on his epic missions. But when events take an unexpected turn, Walter and Lance suddenly have to rely on each other in a whole new way. And if this odd couple can’t learn to work as a team, the whole world is in peril. “Spies in Disguise” is an animated comedy set in the high-octane globe-trotting world of international espionage.

Audi is behind the design to an animated concept car seen in the film, the Audi RSQ e-tron, created by Audi Design in cooperation with Blue Sky Studios — if you ever wondered if pigeons can drive.

“Spies in Disguise” opens Sept. 13, 2019. Watch the first trailer above.
