Will Smith and Kevin Hart to star in remake of '80s comedy classic Planes, Trains and Automobiles
Will Smith and Kevin Hart are set to team up for a remake of classic 1980s comedy movie Planes, Trains and Automobiles.
The actors will star in a new version of the 1987 road trip comedy, which featured Steve Martin and John Candy as very mismatched accidental travel partners Neal Page and Del Griffith.
In the original movie, which was directed, produced and written by John Hughes, highly-strung Neal is desperate to make it back home to Chicago in time to enjoy Thanksgiving with his family and ends up reluctantly teaming up with good-hearted but irritating shower curtain ring salesman Del.

They soon endure three days of utter chaos as they try everything in their power to make it to Chicago, but of course in classic comedy fashion absolutely nothing goes right and they are faced with trouble everywhere they go.
Deadline reports that Paramount Pictures is now behind a remake starring Men in Black and Bad Boys actor Smith and Jumanji and Ride Along star Hart, although it has not been confirmed whether they will play new versions of Neal and Del or completely different characters.
Both actors will also produce through their production companies, Smith's Westbrook Studios and Hart's Hartbeat Productions.
The script is set to be written by Aeysha Carr, who has worked on Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Everybody Hates Chris, as well as upcoming Hulu series Woke which will star New Girl actor Lamorne Morris.

It was recently revealed that Smith is also working on a grittier reboot of his iconic 1990s sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, which will retell the Fresh Prince story from a dramatic viewpoint.
Hart, meanwhile, recently finished work on upcoming drama film Fatherhood, which co-stars Luke Cage actress Alfre Woodard.
