Small Business Saturday, debut of Santa in an Igloo Nov. 25

MONROE — Small Business Saturday will run from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 25 in downtown Monroe.

Many downtown businesses will be open. Hours may vary. Some stores will offer specials and sales.

"Visit downtown Monroe for fabulous gifts and personalized services that you can't get at a big box store or online," said Paula Stanifer, event coordinator for the Downtown Monroe Business Network.

The Floral City Harmonizers will stroll downtown and offer barbershop-style songs.

Santa in an Igloo will debut Nov. 25 and be open through Christmas. Santa will visit with children in the igloo on East Front Street.

Santa in an Igloo opens Nov. 25 in downtown Monroe.

Santa will visit with children inside the igloo on East Front Street from 4 to 7 p.m. every Thursday until Christmas.

"Santa hands out bags with flyers and coupons for downtown businesses. Last year we had about 150 children visit Santa," said Paula Stanifer, event coordinator for the Downtown Monroe Business Network.

Flat Rock offering Christmas Passport for shopping season

FLAT ROCK -- Downtown Flat Rock is again offering a Christmas Passport program this year. More prizes will be given this year.

So far 53 area business have signed up. Residents can turn in completed passports by noon every Friday for a chance to win gift cards and other prizes.
