‘Slow Horses’ Star Christopher Chung Signs With The Artists Partnership (EXCLUSIVE) – Global Bulletin

REPRESENTATION

“Slow Horses” star Christopher Chung has signed with The Artists Partnership in the U.K. for representation. He will be repped by Christina Shepherd, who also counts Olivia Cooke, Suranne Jones and Noah Jupe among her clients. Chung recently dazzled viewers as egotistical tech wizard Roddy Ho in Apple TV+ spy series “Slow Horses,” which also starred Gary Oldman and Kristin Scott Thomas. Season 2 has wrapped and the show has already been renewed for a third and fourth season.

As well as an extensive theater background, including stints in Andy Fickman’s “Heathers the Musical, where he originated the role of Kurt, and “Romeo & Juliet” at Shakespeare’s Globe, Chung has also appeared in British drama “Waterloo Road.” Chung is also repped by More/Medavoy Management in the U.S.

PRESENTERS

Victoria Derbyshire, who currently presents on the BBC News channel, BBC World News and the “News at One” program will become joint lead presenter on “Newsnight,” replacing Emily Maitlis, who revealed in February that she is leaving to launch a new podcast with Global alongside Jon Sopel. Derbyshire will start the role permanently in September but will present some programs before that. The “Newsnight” permanent team now comprises Derbyshire and Kirsty Wark as lead presenters, with Faisal Islam continuing to present regularly. Derbyshire will also continue to present “Ukrainecast” podcasts on BBC Sounds. She won a BAFTA for her live TV interview with soccer players who’d been sexually abused as boys.

Jon Kay will become the new regular presenter on “BBC Breakfast” from Monday to Wednesday, effective immediately. He has been part of the “BBC Breakfast” team for over eight years and recent stories he has covered for the program include the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee weekend and interviewing Ben Stiller about his visit to Ukraine in his UN goodwill ambassador role.

COMMISSION

Sky History has commissioned 4×60’ drama-documentary “The Royal Mob,” a co-production between A+E Networks U.K. and Sky in association with production company Nutopia. The show tells the saga of the extended royal family — described by by Queen Victoria as ‘The Royal Mob’ — that once ruled the whole of Europe. Told through the eyes of Queen Victoria’s favorite granddaughters, the four Hesse sisters — each of whom married into Europe’s royal courts — the series explores the family tensions which set cousin against cousin and sister against sister, and saw millions plunged into WWI. It combines scripted drama from writers Jamie Brittain (“Skins”) and Abigail Wilson (“Ten Percent”) with input from historians Emma Dabiri (“Hair Power”), Simon Sebag Montefiore (author of “The Romanovs: 1613-1918”), Priya Atwal (author of “Royals and Rebels”) and Miranda Carter (author of “Three Emperors”).

The role of Queen Victoria will be played by Michele Dotrice (“Vanity Fair”). From A+E Networks U.K. the series was commissioned, and executive produced by Dan Korn, VP of programming, with Diana Carter, commissioning editor and head of talent and from Sky the series is commissioned by Zai Bennett, MD of content, and Poppy Dixon, director of documentaries. Hayley Reynolds, commissioning editor, serves as executive producer for Sky. The series will broadcast on Sky History in Nov. 2022.
