Slipknot have revealed that they’ve begun rehearsing with a new mystery drummer.

The band teased the replacement for Jay Weinberg in a social media post, sharing an image of a broken drum stick with the word: “Rehearsal.”

To no surprise, fan speculation is at a fever pitch, with many convinced that Weinberg’s replacement is Eloy Casagrande based on the Promark drum stick seen in the social media post (Casagrande’s brand of choice). The timing does align, as Casagrande recently exited Sepultura in rather abrupt fashion just weeks before the Brazilian thrash band embarked on its farewell world tour.

Slipknot and their new drummer have just over a month to hone the setlist. The band is set to play its first gig of 2024 on April 27th at Sick New World in Las Vegas, followed by appearances at Welcome to Rockville in Daytona Beach, Florida, on May 12th and Sonic Temple in Columbus, Ohio, on May 19th. If Casagrande is in fact the new drummer, he won’t be coming in completely cold. The Brazilian has posted drum covers of Slipknot songs such as “People = Shit” and “The Heretic Anthem,” proving that he’s more than capable of pulling off the complex parts written by the late Joey Jordison.

Below you can check out Slipknot’s teaser post, as well as Casagrande’s Slipknot playthroughs.
