Slim Thug Disapproves Of Black Music Being Owned By Jewish Music Executives
Slim Thug believes Black people need to take their power back, especially as it relates to music. The Houston rapper went on a rant this past weekend about Jewish music executives owning Black music.
“Jewish people should own Drake — Drake is Jewish,” he said in an Instagram Live. “Jewish people should own Jewish music. I don’t like that Jewish people own Black music. I don’t want Jewish people who are not a part of the culture to own the culture. I want only Black people to own Black music. Until we fix that, I don’t like it. If you ain’t Jewish, why the f**k you own a Jewish rapper’s music?”
The “3 Kings” rapper didn’t limit his commentary to just Black and Jewish people either. “It should be that for every race,” he said when asked if this mindset applies to other races. “If you Jewish, you should own Jewish music. If you white, you should own white music, country music. Spanish people should own Spanish music. Yeah, everybody who from their race should own their sh*t. So that’s not racist; that’s equal.”
Slim Thug mentioned Dame Dash as someone he admired who fought against non-Black executives having a say over what happens with Black music. “We don’t want people culture vulturing us. We going at all the culture vultures,” he said sternly. “That’s why tried to push Dame Dash to the side. Dame Dash was right — he was standing on business.”
As for the Texas legend, he’s had an active 2023 musically. Thug shared Midlife Crisis back in September, a 13-track LP with features from Z-Ro, Lil’ Keke, and OTB Fastlane.
