Slash featuring Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! last night (February 2nd), performing the new song “The River Is Rising.” The guitarist also sat down with Kimmel to tell a few humorous stories.

One in particular involves Slash dressing in his mom’s clothes so he could “hit” on drummer Steven Adler, his future bandmate in Guns N’ Roses, when they were teenagers.

The two young friends often tried to get into the legendary Rainbow Bar and Grill on the Sunset Strip. The bouncer was rarely sold on their homemade fake IDs, but one night, Adler was let in and Slash was turned away.

“I was really drunk,” Slash told Kimmel. “So I went home, and put on a bunch of make-up, and put on some of my mom’s clothes, and I went back up there. And it was Ladies Night… so I got in.”

Having made his way into the bar, he attempted to take his plan a step further and approach Adler in his new disguise.

“I was going to go and pick up on Steven, because Steven would screw anything, and I thought it’d be really funny,” Slash recalled. “So I got in, and slowly but surely I realized, ‘Steven’s not here…he’s gone.’ And this whole black cloud of reality came down. And I felt the most vulnerable I’ve ever felt, still to this day I’ve never felt like that. And then having to leave and then walk down Sunset Boulevard in a dress… it was horrible.”
