Skies turned a hazy orange as wildfire smoke blew from the Dixie Fire towards Susanville in California’s north on July 19.
Cal Fire said the blaze was very active and produced a large smoke column. The blaze moved east and north, producing conditions that changed the color of the sky according to the Butte County Sheriff. The fire was an estimated 40,500 acres in size.
