The road provided some hard lessons for the Wisconsin women’s basketball team Sunday.

The Badgers, fresh off two straight Big Ten victories for the first time since the 2016-17 season, suffered their largest loss of the season, falling, 93-56, to No. 6 Indiana in front of a school-record crowd of 10,422 at Assembly Hall in Bloomington, Indiana.

Junior Brook Schamek finished with 13 points and six rebounds for UW, which dropped to 6-12 overall and 2-5 in the Big Ten. Freshman Serah Williams posted 10 points on 4-for-10 shooting with six rebounds and three assists after recording a season-best 31 points and 16 rebounds in a win at Michigan State Wednesday.

Indiana raised its record to 16-1 overall and 6-1 in the Big Ten. Senior forward Mackenzie Holmes, a 6-3 forward, finished with 29 points on 11-for-15 shooting and grabbed eight rebounds. Freshman guard Yarden Garzon added 19 points. She hit seven of nine shots and recorded eight rebounds and seven assists.

Indiana forced 21 turnovers and converted those into 31 points.

The miscues were especially costly in the second quarter when Indiana turned a six-point lead into a 21-point halftime advantage and in the third quarter when the Hoosiers hit 13 of 16 shots to push their lead to 31.

The second quarter struggles culminated with a 19-2 IU run during the final 7 minutes 1 second of the half to give the Hoosiers a 47-26 lead. In the third quarter, an 18-7 run during the final 5 ½ minutes staked them to a 78-47 lead heading into the final quarter.

Up next for Wisconsin will be No. 9 Maryland Thursday at the Kohl Center.
