Philadelphia 76ers big man Joel Embiid continues to put up monstrous performances, and he is making it all look so easy. He has been doing things this season the franchise has not seen since the days of Wilt Chamberlain and Charles Barkley. Now, he has joined another franchise great.

With his 33 points and nine rebounds in a win over the Brooklyn Nets on Saturday, the big fella has scored 25-plus points in eight straight games. He is the first Sixers player to do that since a certain 6-foot guard from Georgetown, Allen Iverson, in 2006.

Embiid is averaging 35.3 points and 9.6 rebounds over that span of eight games. He is squarely in the early MVP consideration due to performances like these.

For Embiid to be mentioned in the same sentence as Iverson, Barkley and Chamberlain means he is having one helluva season. For the Sixers to reach their goal of a championship, they will need him to continue this strong play. They will go as far as he will take them.
