It's no surprise that Kody Brown and the women of Sister Wives, Meri Brown, Robyn Brown, Janelle Brown and Christine Brown, have money in the bank after starring on the TLC show since 2010. In fact, their individual net worths are certainly higher than you would think.

How do the wives and former spouses make their hefty salaries? They each have their own side hustles on top of their reality TV appearances. Meri runs a cute bed and breakfast called Lizzie’s Heritage Inn in Parowan, Utah, which she started after buying back a home that her great-great-grandparents had built and transforming it into an inn. Meri is also a popular LuLaRoe independent seller.

Janelle, who left Kody in 2022, In Touch exclusively confirmed in December, started her own company called Strive with Janelle, which is mostly focused on blogging and sharing workout motivation on social media. She is also a certified health coach who offers “body compassion and accountability coaching,” according to her website. Janelle launched a health and wellness program with her daughter Maddie to help others achieve their fitness goals.

Additionally, she generates revenue via Cameo by making paid videos for fans, with personalized content options starting at $35.

As for Robyn, the sister wife's main job for a time was maintaining My Sisterwife’s Closet, the TLC ladies' “online jewelry and clothing line boutique." Kody also helped launch the retail company, which was approved as an LLC in September 2018. The mother of five was said to be the main driving force behind the online store, and she previously wrote many of the blog posts while designing her own lines. However, the project was started by all four of the wives when they were each married (either legally or spiritually) to Kody, so they all chipped in. Despite Robyn's efforts, the endeavor didn't pan out. In Touch confirmed the company’s LLC was listed as inactive as of November 7, 2023, according to paperwork viewed by In Touch.

“My Sister Wife’s Closet is not what it was supposed to be,” Kody and Christine’s son, Paedon Brown, previously said about the company in an interview with John Yates in January 2023. “She put effort into it. She definitely tried, I’m not going to deny that, but it didn’t go anywhere.”

In Touch additionally confirmed that no new LLCs have been issued.

Christine started a legal business called CBrown Quest, LLC, in May 2020, The Sun reported after she registered the company with the Arizona Corporation Commission. She is also a LuLaRoe retailer and does Cameos, like Janelle, to stay connected with her fans. Christine also makes cash while appearing on her own digital series for TLC, Cooking with Just Christine. The show premiered in February 2022.

Additionally, Christine and Janelle teamed up to share wellness advice and products on their joint Instagram account, The Secret to Self Care.

However, it wasn’t always smooth sailing when it comes to the former polygamous brood’s finances. Christine and Kody’s daughter Gwendlyn Brown opened up about how money-tied the polygamous family was in the earlier seasons.

“You’ll see them doing slightly fancier things than they’ll probably have done before in their lives,” Gwen said during the May 13, 2023, episode of her YouTube channel as she recapped season 1. “I’m pretty sure, very pretty sure, but what they did was covered by the show.”

She said that fancy dinners and clothes were sometimes “completely covered by the show,” so it made it easier for the family to take more “fun trips.”

“So if you see a camera on them and what they’re doing has a camera on them,” she continued. “Then that situation, moment, maybe that entire trip, was billed to the show because the show made money off that moment.
