The news of Garrison Brown’s suicide rocked Sister Wives fans and stars alike to their core. Amid the shock and distress, Kody and Janelle Brown took to social media to share some feelings.

“Kody and I are deeply saddened to announce the loss of our beautiful boy Robert Garrison Brown. He was a bright spot in the lives of all who knew him,” the wrote in identical statements. “His loss will leave such a big hole in our lives that it takes our breath away.”

“We ask that you please respect our privacy and join us in honoring his memory.” For the most part, fans responded very respectfully, letting details emerge in their own time. Now, details about the cause of death have been made public.

The press releases details on Garrison’s autopsy

On May 15, PEOPLE reported the details of Garrison’s autopsy. The Coconino County Medical Examiner’s report confirmed that Garrison died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. As such, the manner of death was ruled a suicide. On top of that, a reported contributing factor in the death was Garrison’s alcohol intake.

When Garrison died, he was suffering from ethanol intoxication – alcohol poisoning. Garrison had a blood alcohol level of .307% based on an iliac blood analysis, and .370% based on a vitreous analysis. For reference, the legal limit in the United States is .08%, and anything over .40% would be fatal.

Garrison also had caffeine in his system when he died, though, that didn’t appear to be a contributing factor in his death. The autopsy results likely didn’t surprise most people, including Garrison’s family. Here’s hoping the report might bring some measure of peace to his loved ones.
