Sip some brews at Fond du Lac's Brewfest, and more can't-miss events happening this week

FOND DU LAC — Fond du Lac's beer-tasting event, Brewfest will take place Feb. 3 at the Fond du Lac County Fairgrounds.

Although the weather has put a damper on the race portion, the vintage snowmobile show will go on.

Here are five can’t-miss events happening in the community this week.

1. Fond du Lac's Brewfest will take over fairgrounds Feb. 3

Beer enthusiasts won’t want to miss Fond du Lac Brewfest Feb. 3. This beer-tasting event will run 4 to 7:30 p.m. at the Fond du Lac County Fairgrounds Expo Center, 520 Fond du Lac Ave.

In addition to sampling microbrews from around the world as well as homebrews, there will be food vendors and live entertainment. More than 200 microbrews, cider, mead and wine will be available for sampling.

A portion of the proceeds will go to charity.

2. Mojoe & Flipside are next in Great Hall series at Thelma

Next up in the Great Hall Concert Series is Mojoe & Flipside. The concert will begin at 7 p.m. Feb. 2 at Thelma Sadoff Center for the Arts, 51 Sheboygan St.

MoJoe & Flipside perform a mix of the blues, R&B, and rock to create a funky blues Americana musical style. Band members are Joe Fittante, vocalist; Tony Wagner, percussionist; Kelvin Kasper, guitarist; and Charlie Sauter, bassist.

3. Feb. 3 vintage snowmobile show moved to clubhouse

The ninth annual Vintage Piston Burners Winter Show is scheduled for Feb. 3. The event is hosted by the Holyland Snowflyers Snowmobile Club.

With the warmer weather diminishing the snow cover, organizers have decided to move the vintage snowmobile show to the clubhouse, 408 Fond du Lac St., Mt. Calvary.

There will be raffle prizes and bucket raffles to play throughout the day with the Winter Fundraiser drawing at 4 p.m.

4. Ripon library focuses on 'cozy mysteries' in February

February is National Mystery Month and Ripon Public Library is celebrating with “Cozies and Cookies.”

Cozy mysteries are lighthearted with little to no violence, and will be featured throughout February with special events, prizes, cookies and a display.

The celebration is sponsored by Ripon Noon Kiwanis in honor of its 100th year of service to the community.

A kickoff celebration will be held 10 a.m. to noon Feb. 3 at the library, 120 Jefferson St., Ripon. Enjoy cookies, warm beverages and guest speakers. Participants also can enter to win book prizes and claim a free mug, while supplies last.

Then, from 4 to 8 p.m. Mondays throughout Feburary, patrons can visit the library to enjoy cookies and warm drinks while browsing the “cozies” display.

5. Enjoy soup and bakery Thursdays at The Hive

The Hive will host Soup-er Thursdays from 4 to 9 p.m. The Hive is at W4786 State 23 in Fond du Lac.

The Hive has partnered with Annie’s Fountain City Catering and Thunderbird Bakery & Cafe to offer hot and fresh soup and bakery every Thursday for $8.

Take out 32 ounces of soup from Annie’s. Place an order online at annies-fountain-city-cafe.square.site.
