CEO Helps Single Mom Pay for Kids' Education on 'Undercover Boss'

On Wednesday’s Undercover Boss, John Fuller, the president and CEO of The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, went undercover as “Mick” to work with shift supervisor Deanna. And after a quick latté tutorial, Deanna threw him into the weeds.

“Mick” proved to be a horrible barista, and Deanna opened up about her life, telling him she used to have a drug habit, but Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf gave her a much-needed job that has allowed her to care for her kids. She also told him she dropped out of school in 10th grade and has never been able to get her GED because she places more importance on trying to get her kids into college. Deanna recently lost her father to cancer and she, herself, is currently fighting liver cancer. But somehow she still manages to do an amazing job with a smile on her face.

After “Mick” went back to his old self, John Fuller, he told Deanna he was giving her $20,000 and was going to help her get her high school diploma, with another $10,000 gift upon completion. Additionally, he set aside $40,000 for her kids’ college education. Deanna has faced plenty of adversity, and it couldn’t be any sweeter seeing her receive such an incredible gift.

Undercover Boss airs on Wednesdays at 8 p.m. on CBS.
