When the Emmy Awards roll out the red carpet for some of the biggest names on television, it includes a handful of music artists who have taken home awards for their various contributions to the small screen.

As viewers eagerly await to learn if their favorite drama series will win or if an actor will deliver a memorable acceptance speech when they receive their statuette, the Emmys does acknowledge other essential categories beyond acting, directing, editing and writing for popular series.

Typically airing ahead of the star-studded primetime event, the Creative Arts Emmy Awards honors those in award categories such as outstanding original music and lyrics, outstanding music supervision and outstanding music composition for a series. Music has always given TV shows a special touch, and some of the talented artists behind those famous scenes and specials have joined the ranks of Emmy winners in Hollywood.

From Taylor Swift and Snoop Dogg to Adele and Jennifer Hudson, here are several singers, musicians, songwriters and rappers who have won Emmys in the past.
