Singer Sean Kingston was arrested in California, the same day his mother was taken into custody in a raid at his residence in Florida, authorities said Thursday night.

Kingston's arrest happened Thursday evening in Fort Irwin, a small desert town adjacent to the U.S. Army National Training Center, about 180 miles southwest of Las Vegas, Florida's Broward County Sheriff's Office said.

The office said Kingston, 34, who is known for his hit song "Beautiful Girls," was the subject of a Broward County warrant that alleged numerous instances of fraud and theft.

He was arrested without incident and will likely be booked into jail in San Bernardino County, where Fort Irwin is located, the sheriff's office said.

Also on Thursday, Broward County deputies and Davie, Florida. SWAT officers were seen serving a search warrant at Kingston's property in Southwest Ranches, about 30 miles northwest of Miami, NBC South Florida reported.

Officials told the station that Kingston’s mother, Janice Turner, 61, was taken into custody on suspicion of fraud and theft.

Earlier in the day, Kingston responded to his mother's situation on his Instagram story: “People love negative energy! I am good and so is my mother!.. my lawyers are handling everything as we speak."

Bob Rosenblatt, an attorney representing Kingston, said the singer will waive extradition.

“We were in the process of having him return to Florida after his show," Rosenblatt said. "We want him back asap so we can show this is merely a civil case and not criminal. We look forward to challenging this case in court. “

Authorities did not initially indicate Kingston might also be taken into custody, NBC South Florida reported.

The sheriff's office said it served arrest and search warrants after an investigation that began in nearby Dania Beach. Authorities did not immediately provide details.

Kingston, whose real name is Kisean Paul Anderson, is also known for collaborations with Justin Bieber, Tory Lanez, Nicki Minaj and other artists. He has also toured with Beyoncé and Kelly Clarkson.
