Are you ready to "sing your sillies out"? If so, Violet Vonder Haar is ready for you.

The stalwart local songwriter and music educator will play songs for kids and kids at heart Thursday at Stephens Lake Park Amphitheater in a show sponsored by Daniel Boone Regional Library.

"You'll sing about waffles, penguins drinking tea and love!" a library event description promises.

Vonder Haar leads the indie outfit Violet and the Undercurrents, veterans of festivals such as Roots N Blues (now Treeline), and makers of nuanced, uplifting records that meld folk, rock and soul.

A mid-Missouri lifer, she has equipped musicians of all ages through her work with Compass, Inc., which provides camps, workshops and lessons from its community hub adjacent to the University of Missouri. Compass also hosts Compass Fest, a showcase for area artists.

Flexible in her songcraft, Vonder Haar has posed various songwriting challenges to herself and played kids' concerts both in person and online during the earlier days of the pandemic.

Thursday's show begins at 6:30 p.m., and will move inside Riechmann Pavilion if weather dictates. Visit https://www.dbrl.org/events for more information.
