Simone Biles ‘wouldn't feel comfortable’ letting her daughter be part of USA Gymnastics following abuse scandal

Olympic gymnast Simone Biles appeared Sunday on 60 Minutes, where she discussed her ongoing disappointment in USA Gymnastics. Biles was one of the hundreds of young women who were sexually abused by Olympic doctor Larry Nassar. While Nassar was convicted of his crimes and sentenced to 175 years in prison, many questions about the scandal remain unanswered by USA Gymnastics and the Olympic committee.

“Oh, it's far from over,” said Biles. “There's still a lot of questions that still need to be answered. Just who knew what, when? [USA Gymnastics] have failed so many athletes, and most of us underage. You guys don't think that's a bigger problem?”

When asked if she had daughter, would she let her be part of the USA Gymnastics program, Biles said, “No. Because I don't feel comfortable enough, because they haven't taken accountability for their actions and what they've done. And they haven't ensured us that it's never going to happen again.”

CEO of USA Gymnastics Li Li Leung issued a statement to 60 Minutes: "We recognize how deeply we have broken the trust of our athletes and community, and are working hard to build that trust back."

When Biles was asked if USA Gymnastics failed her, she replied, “100 percent. We bring them medals. We do our part. You can't do your part in return? It's just, like, it's sickening.”

60 Minutes airs Sundays at 7 p.m. on CBS.
