Simone Biles continues to cement her name in the history books.

On Friday (Oct. 6), the 26-year-old placed first in the all-around category at the 2023 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Antwerp, Belgium. According to CBS Sports, the win counts as Biles’ 21st gold medal and 27th overall medal.

Counting her Olympic hardware, the University of California, Los Angeles alumna counts 34 career medals, making her the most-awarded gymnast of all time — male or female.

Her recent string of wins comes after the gymnast took a two-year hiatus from the sport for her physical and mental wellbeing. Biles could return to compete for Team USA at the 2024 Paris Olympics, potentially adding more medals to her name.

Biles’ break came after withdrawing from several events during the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, held in 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic.

“Right now, I would say that’s the path I would love to go, so I wouldn’t mind if you put it in the ‘yay’ section,” shared the professional athlete last month on The Today Show.

“I think I have to take care of myself a little bit more and listen to my body and making sure that I’m making time for the important things in my life, rather than before, it was just ‘go, go, go,’ and then making time after,” she continued.

“This time around, it’s being intentional, going to therapy, making sure everything is aligned, so that I can do the best in the gym and be a good wife, good daughter, good friend and all of the good things.”
