The Olympic gymnast and NFL player got married in April 2023

Simone Biles officially became one-half of a sports power couple when she and Jonathan Owens tied the knot on April 22, 2023.

After meeting during the pandemic in March 2020 on the dating app Raya, the most decorated American gymnast in history and NFL safety said their "I dos" in a low-key courthouse ceremony, followed by a luxurious destination wedding in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, on May 6.

Biles first teased the news of their big day on Instagram on April 14, sharing a photo alongside Owens of the two holding a marriage license.

"Almost time to say 'I do,' " she captioned the post.

A week later, the Olympian and her sweetheart revealed the exciting news on Instagram with a romantic set of images of her and Owens on their wedding day, writing, "I do 🤍 officially owens 🤍."

In the photos, the pair can be seen exchanging some bubbly just after sharing their vows during their intimate courthouse wedding in Texas. Biles wore a gorgeous tiered white gown for the special occasion, while Owens sported a tan suit.

The beautiful bride would later wear four wedding dresses for their second ceremony in Cabo San Lucas.

On his respective Instagram page, Owens shared a similar selection of shots, including more behind-the-scenes looks at the couple saying, "I do."

"My person, forever ❤️💍," he captioned his post, adding two hashtags: "#TheOwens" and "#ItsOfficial."

Biles and Owens had a close encounter during a Texans game in 2019, but the two officially met via the dating app Raya in March 2020 — and it was Biles who initiated the first move.

"He would say I slid into his DMs," Biles told The Wall Street Journal in 2021. "I saw him, and I was like, 'Oh, he's pretty cute,' so I said, 'hi.' ... And then I saw that he was in the Houston area, so we started chatting a little bit, and then we went to hang out a week or two later."

Owens revealed how meeting just before the pandemic lockdown helped to strengthen their connection.

"We ended up hanging out right before the pandemic," he told Texas Monthly in 2021. "It was one of the few times in her life where everything was just shut off, and she couldn't do anything. So we used it to get to know each other — really get to know each other. It created our bond and made it stronger. Now I'm so thankful."

From Instagram Official to Bride and Groom

The star athlete made their relationship Instagram official in August 2020 when she posted two sweet photos with Owens. The lovey-dovey snaps showed the pair cozied together while the football player gave her a sweet kiss.

"It's just us," Biles captioned the post.

A Match Made in Heaven

In September 2020, Owens followed Biles' lead, sharing two pictures on Instagram with the caption: "Now you rockin with a real one 🤞🏽🖤."

"This was a match made in heaven," Owens revealed to Texas Monthly. "There's no better person for me. She loves me; she's so affectionate. I just love that. And it's just intoxicating seeing how much work she puts into everything."

Hand-in-Hand

Then, after two years of dating, Biles and Owens announced their engagement via a series of Instagram photos on Feb. 15, 2022.

A Sweet Embrace

The NFL athlete popped the question under a gazebo in Houston with an oval-cut diamond ring featuring a diamond-encrusted band designed by jeweler ZoFrost.

The sports couple's big day came about after they received their marriage license on April 15, 2023.

In an Instagram post, the lovebirds looked elated as Biles showed off the document — which was issued in Montgomery County in Texas — after returning to their car.

"Almost time to say 'I do' 📄🤍," she wrote, with Owens responding in the comments, "Soon 🤞🏽"
