Simon Cowell on terrible 'AGT' performance: 'It was like watching a murder'

Nick and Lindsay Williams hoped to step up their opera-violin-knife-throwing act during the live America’s Got Talent quarter finals on Tuesday, but instead of wowing judges with their rendition of Johnny Cash’s “Ring of Fire,” they fell into a burning ring of fire themselves.

Unfortunately, their song choice was a little too whimsical for Nick’s operatic style of singing. This resulted in both his tempo and pitch to be off.

Lindsay struggled with the knife throwing portion of the act, as only one of the several knives she threw actually stuck into the board. She was also off rhythm with Nick when she tried playing the violin.

When it came time for critiques, Simon Cowell was fairly tough. “I think in the history of America's Got Talent that was the worst live performance I've ever seen,” said Simon. “I love you two, but everything went wrong. I mean it was like watching a murder.” Twitter agreed with Simon, wholeheartedly.

While all the judges agreed the act was bad, Julianne Hough thought it was bad like a fine moldy cheese. She said, “It was so bad it actually became good.”

Whether or not Nick and Lindsay make it to the final round depends on America’s votes. Regardless of what happens, at least the husband and wife know they will forever live on in AGT infamy as the worst live-performance ever.

America’s Got Talent results airs Wednesday at 8 p.m. on NBC.
