Simon Cowell celebrated the America's Got Talent finale alongside his son.

On Wednesday night, after the season finale of AGT, where Terry Crews announced Adrian Stoica and his dog Hurricane as the winners of season 18, Cowell, 63, walked the red carpet with 9-year-old son Eric next to him.

"The crazy thing was cause Eric my son was at the show last night and I said to him this morning 'Who do you think's gonna win?' he went Hurricane," Cowell shared in an interview with Access Hollywood on the carpet.

"I went 'seriously?' " he continued. "He really, really called it."

He added: "He's just obsessed with this dog and even during the auditions he met her and Adrian, and he's a great guy, and she is just adorable. I watched him as the result came in and he's like jumping up in the air. He was so excited."

The dog trainer and his faithful canine companion walked away with a grand prize of $1 million and a headlining act as part of the America's Got Talent Presents Superstars Live show at the Luxor Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.

Speaking to PEOPLE backstage after the show, Cowell, 63, admitted that the season's outcome came as a "bit of a surprise" to him.

"You can't please everyone — there were people who were disappointed, people who were surprised, but it's a public vote, and their act last night was amazing," he said of Stoica and his pup. "So a bit of a surprise, but I'm happy. I would've been happy with anyone winning from last night, if I'm being honest with you."

Additionally, he said it was a bonus for him that his son — who was in the audience Wednesday night — was "thrilled" to see Stoica and Hurricane win. "We’re going to have a good car right back [home]," Cowell joked.

In an interview with The Sun in October 2022, Cowell said since having his son he's had to learn how to balance his career and personal life.

"If Eric hadn't come along, God knows what would have happened," Cowell said at the time. "Before Eric, my life was 99 percent work. I was obsessed with it."

"After I lost my mum and my dad, you kind of think you're never going to feel that love again — that's it," he added. "Then you have kids, and, though I never thought I would feel that way, it's beyond your love for your parents," he said. "It almost hurts how much you love them. Then you start thinking, 'When he grows up, what's his dad going to have done?' I think about that a lot."
