Sigourney Weaver’s ‘The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart’ Starts Filming in Australia for Amazon (EXCLUSIVE)

Sigourney Weaver-starring series “The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart” has begun filming in Australia. Produced by Amazon Prime Video, Made Up Stories and Endeavor Content, it will be presented as an Amazon original in 2022.
The series is based on the best-selling novel of the same title by Australian author Holly Ringland and was adapted for the screen by Sarah Lambert, who is also the series’ showrunner. All seven episodes will be directed by Glendyn Ivin (“Penguin Bloom”).

The story involves a nine-year-old girl who loses both her parents in a mysterious fire and is sent to live with her grandmother, played by Weaver, on a flower farm. There she learns dark secrets about herself and her family. The narrative uses native wildflowers and plants to depict the inexpressible. It spans decades as Alice grows from a child into a woman.
Filming is set to take place in Sydney, regional New South Wales and the Northern Territory. Screen NSW said that the production has created 277 jobs for cast and crew and will inject some A$27.3 million ($20.5 million) into the local economy.
The production will involve an extensive Australian cast, including Asher Keddie (“Offspring”), Leah Purcell (“The Drover’s Wife the Legend of Molly Johnson”) Alycia Debnam-Carey (“Fear the Walking Dead”), Frankie Adams, Alexander England, Charlie Vickers, and Tilda Cobham-Hervey. Alyla Browne plays the young version of the titular Alice Hart.
Executive producers Jodi Matterson, Bruna Papandrea and Steve Hutensky called the project “a courageous tale of female resilience, perfectly embodied by the legendary Sigourney Weaver.” Weaver also takes an executive production credit.
Amazon has commissioned 14 original series in Australia since 2019, investing A$150 million ($113 million) to date. They include the upcoming “Kick Like Tayla,” “Warriors On The Field,” “Class of ’07,” “Deadloch,” and feature-length documentary, “Burning.”
