Siesta Key’s Future in Question as MTV Pauses Production (Report)

It could be a very, very long time before MTV’s Siesta Key returns for Season 6, if at all.

According to a new report from TMZ, production has been indefinitely paused on the reality series, although it’s not officially cancelled and could eventually return in the future.

A source tells TVLine that no decision has been made about the series.

Amanda Marie Miller, a friend of the series who became an official cast member in Season 4, hinted at the show’s fate on Instagram last year. “For the last 5 years these people (& a few more) have become more than friends, they’re my family,” she wrote. “It’s been an honor doing this show with them by my side and the memories we’ve all made together are unforgettable & I will be carrying them with me forever.”

Drops in ratings could be a factor of the show’s decline. It’s fifth season (titled Miami Moves) hit an all-time ratings low before its finale aired on January 19, 2023.

Siesta Key premiered July 31, 2017, and the Sarasota County, Fla.-set series became a quick hit for MTV. After its fourth season, the show made a big pivot, following longtime cast member Juliette Porter and her friends as they broadened their horizons and moved to Miami.
