Sienna Miller May Leave the U.S. if Donald Trump Wins
Sienna Miller is anxiously awaiting the outcome of the U.S. presidential race, because it may impact the zip code she calls home. The British actress now lives in the Big Apple, but she told Variety at the New York Film Festival premiere of “The Lost City of Z,” that she may have to relocate if Donald Trump beats Hillary Clinton.
“I don’t know if I can stay if it goes the wrong way, so I’m really hoping that Hillary comes through,” she said.
Miller said that is slowly dawned on her that Trump’s candidacy was legitimate, and that her fears grew as the billionaire developer and former reality TV star’s campaign gathered momentum.
“It was really funny initially until I realized it wasn’t a joke,” said Miller. “I’m really horrified. I’ve never been here for an election. I’ve never felt as invested in the outcome as I do now.”
Miller co-stars with Robert Pattinson and Charlie Hunnam in “The Lost City of Z,” playing Nina Fawcett, the wife of Percy Fawcett, a British explorer who journeyed through the Amazon.
“She’s a really interesting character,” said Miller. “She was a suffragette and she was a Buddhist and she was raising children on her own. She was competent and strong.”
Miller was so invested in the project and was so eager to work with director James Gray, that she remained involved for over seven years, as leading men like Brad Pitt and Benedict Cumberbatch fell in and out of the film.
“If we were in the seventies, this is the kind of movie you would watch,” said Miller. “That was for me the real golden age of film. Those kind of films breath and live and have a pace to them.”
