Brett Goldstein is here, there and every-effing-where — including behind and in front of the camera for Shrinking‘s second season.

Goldstein, who co-created the Apple TV+ dramedy, is set to guest-star on its forthcoming sophomore run. Details about Goldstein’s role are currently being kept under wraps, but during a 2023 interview in Variety‘s Actors on Actors series, he confirmed there had been “talk” with Shrinking‘s creative team about casting him as a Season 2 character.

“I’ll only do it if it’s a sexy part,” Goldstein joked to The White Lotus‘ Theo James, adding more seriously, “I don’t want to be there for the sake of — just ’cause I want to hang out with [the cast].”

Shrinking — which came in at No. 8 on TVLine’s list of the best shows of 2023 — stars Jason Segel (How I Met Your Mother) as Jimmy, a therapist who, in the throes of grief over his wife’s untimely death, decides to start giving his clients brutally honest advice. The cast also includes Harrison Ford, Jessica Williams, Christa Miller, Ted McGinley, Michael Urie, Luke Tennie and Lukita Maxwell. Season 2 is currently in production.

Goldstein, meanwhile, is best known for his work on another Apple TV+ series: Ted Lasso, where he co-starred as the ill-tempered football player Roy Kent for three seasons, a role that earned him two Primetime Emmys for Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series. And though Ted Lasso ostensibly came to an end with its third season last spring, its fate has yet to be confirmed one way or the other.

“You watched the finale, there’s a little bit of a door that could be kicked back open if need be,” Warner Bros. Television Group boss Channing Dungey told Variety in January. “I wouldn’t put the period on the end of that sentence just yet. There is still a lot of love for Ted Lasso. And I think that there still is a lot of enthusiasm on the part of Apple for Ted Lasso. Should the opportunity arise, we’d be excited to jump back into making more…. There are always conversations that are ongoing, just nothing that’s official.”
