The Shreveport Farmers' Market sets summer return date with updates to the SNAP benefits
The Shreveport Farmers' Market is making its return this summer on Saturday, June 3 for its 37th consecutive year. Every Saturday until August 26 the market will be open to the community from 7:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. at Festival Plaza.
The Shreveport market has over 75 vendors that sell a variety of homegrown and homemade items like fruits and vegetables, plants, breads and jams, pastries, candies, pickles, meats and much more.
You can also purchase art, jewelry, crafts, candles soaps and more from local artisans in addition to prepared breakfast and lunch meals to eat while you shop.
The Shreveport Farmers' Market is the only USDA-approved market in the Shreveport-Bossier area that accepts SNAP benefits. The Louisiana Healthcare Connections SNAP Match program will return this year as well. Shoppers with a Louisiana Purchase (SNAP) card can receive a dollar-for-dollar match up to $20 in purchases at the Shreveport market.
Additionally, the new Greaux the Good partnership will allow an additional match of $10 for a total of $30 in match SNAP benefits. Through these partnerships, SNAP recipients will be able to gain access to fresh, nutritious, local produce while boosting the local economy by shopping with local farmers, ranchers and artists.

Free parking is available in the adjacent lots to Festival Plaza in downtown Shreveport, along with the meter parking on the street. There will also be an ATM onsite, and some vendors accept credit and debit cards. In addition to using the SNAP benefits, some farmers also accept Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Food Coupon available through parish Councils on Aging.
