Shreveport-based craft brewery expanding to Tennessee

Shreveport's Great Raft Brewing announced that they will be moving into the Tennessee territory this spring.

Great Raft Brewing is a craft brewery dedicated to making creative, authentic beer and helping to build a great beer culture within the communities it serves.

Seasonal and small-batch offerings, including Great Raft’s award-winning Double IPA, Grace and Grit, will also be released during the launch.

The LSU Health Sciences Foundation of Shreveport hosted a Topping Out Ceremony Wednesday.

This ceremony celebrated the final structure beam being positioned on the new Center for Medical Education that began construction in July 2021.

The Topping Out Ceremony included local leaders and donors, who participated in the signing of the beam. Once the signing was completed students, facility and donors watched as the tree topped beam was lifted into place.

This 33,000 square foot building will house student facilities as well as the new home for the Center of Excellence for Emerging Viral Threats (CEVT).

Africa Price named new Director of Government Relations for Louisiana hospital

Ochsner LSU Health announced that they have named Africa Price as the Director of Government Relations.

Price will serve as the liaison between the Ochsner LSU Health System of North Louisiana and policymakers across the state.

Price previously served in the Office of the Mayor for the City of Shreveport under two administrations. She recently served as Chief of Staff Director of Governmental Affairs and also the Director of Communications and Public Relations.

The Shreveport Times obtained food safety inspection information for December 2021 from the Louisiana Department of Health.

About 180 permits had no critical violations, and 72 had no violations.

Downtown Shreveport partners with police for added security initiative

Downtown Shreveport is getting some extra protection with a new initiative sponsored by the Downtown Development Authority (DDA) and Downtown Shreveport Development Corporation (DSDC).

The new initiative places uniformed officers on the sidewalks of downtown.

The goal of this initiative is to have officers walking random days and hours to keep an eye on businesses.
