Shows, special events coming to fairgrounds in 2024

MONROE — An Oddities and Horror Fest and the Michigan Tattoo Convention are among the attractions returning to the Monroe County Fairgrounds in 2024 after debuting last year.

These shows are among almost 50 special events and activities taking place on the grounds on a day or weekend other than fair week, July 28-Aug. 3.

"We have a waiting list and there are some other shows that would like to come in. They just have to contact our office," Darryl Diamond, fair manager, said.

The schedule is subject to change, Diamond said. People can visit the fair website at monroecountyfair.org for details and updates.

Some of the handmade dolls artist Kimberly Thon of The Paper Daisy offered at last year's Michigan Oddities and Horror Fest are shown. The show is returning to the fairgrounds this year.

Both the Horror show and the tattoo convention drew good crowds in 2023, Diamond said.

Missing this year will be the annual RV Outlet Show that took place in January. However, the fair has added the Livonia Kennel Club to its schedule for the first time. The two-day dog show will take place in July and follow the three-day Ann Arbor Kennel Club show. It is one of three large dog shows planned this year.

"We are very fortunate to have such nice facilities and that our event calendar continues to grow year after year," Diamond said.

Kicking off the year is the 4-H Tack Sale and More Jan. 28. There are still some open dates remaining to reserve other shows or activities, he said. For more information, contact the fair office at 734-241-5775 or email info@monroecountyfair.com.
