New Shore pizzeria is thinking way outside the box

Hi there!

I hope you enjoyed some delicious food since I was last in your inbox. I sure did, including a messy-yet-delicious eggplant parm sandwich from The Local Market & Kitchen in Ship Bottom and a carnitas platter at La Cabañita Mexican Restaurant in Stafford.

I wish there was a salad in the mix, but I am who I am!

My fellow food writer Gabriela Laracca had the chance to taste-test some out-of-the-box pizzas at one of the Shore's newest pizzerias, Tramonto's, in Ocean Township. The restaurant itself isn't brand new — it was Luigi's until Teddy and Leanna Megaris, owners of Sunset Diner next door, took over this summer — but the couple is putting it on the map with their creative pies.

Gabriela tried and loved the cheese-crusted Detroit hot honey roni pizza topped with pepperoni, ricotta and Mike's Hot Honey, and the tri-state granny pizza, which is striped with pesto, vodka and red sauces.

Tramonto's also makes a seed-crusted pizza topped with honey butter biscuit-fried shrimp and boom boom sauce; a penne vodka burrata pie; and a white pizza with prosciutto, chicken cutlets, roasted red peppers, ricotta, basil and balsamic glaze.

Not wild enough for you? There's also a spaghetti and meatball pizza.

“At the diner, I had to keep it classic, but with pizza, we can do anything," Teddy said. "The sky's the limit."
