Here are the top stories today in Denver:

  1. All five people who were killed Monday in a Denver area shooting spree were identified by their families and police. Four of the people were attacked at tattoo shops, investigators said. Friends and family members are mourning their deaths. "I don't know why someone would do this," a victim's fiancé said. (Denver Patch)

  2. Planning to head into the mountains for New Year's Eve? Be aware of a winter storm warning, and a massive crash in Glenwood Canyon Wednesday that involved 24 vehicles, transportation officials said. Interstate 70 was blocked off between exit 133 in Dotsero and exit 114 in Glenwood Springs while crews investigated. (Fox 31)

  3. Seven Weld County residents, tested positive for the omicron variant, including a seven-month-old baby, public health officials confirmed. The cases were found across the county. The baby's condition was not known.

  4. Denver Public Schools plans to begin with in-person learning after the Winter Break, officials said. The district has a high rate of vaccination among staff, and officials said many health precautions will be taken. (CBS Denver)

  • The Denver Art Museum community is deeply saddened by the loss of local creative Alicia Cardenas, who was killed in the shooting spree. "Cardenas was an incredible muralist, body artist and mentor who inspired many," the museum said. (Facebook)
