In December, Ohtani announced that he was leaving the Los Angeles Angels and joining the Dodgers in a 10-year deal. Although he is known for being a two-way player, the reigning MVP will not be pitching this season due to undergoing elbow surgery. He is expected to return to pitching in 2025.
