Sheamus says he previously thought he would have to retire.

Former WWE Champion Sheamus was sidelined for several months following his natch against Edge on the August 18, 2023, episode of WWE SmackDown. He returned on the April 15 episode of WWE RAW and defeated Ivar. On commentary, it was noted that the former champion had been dealing with a neck issue, and he had undergone surgery.

On April 17, Sheamus took to Twitter to comment on his return. He wrote that the road back to the ring was slow, rough, and unimaginably painful. He noted that, two months ago, he thought he was hanging up his boots for good. However, he said that a lot of doctors, trainers, and physios helped him get cleared to do what he loves.
