Shawn Johnson East Reveals Name and Sex of Baby No. 3: 'We've All Been Waiting for You'

She and husband Andrew East first confirmed the baby's arrival on Thursday via their FamilyMade newsletter

Shawn Johnson East is sharing more details about her new baby!

The retired Olympic gymnast, 31, welcomed her third baby with husband Andrew East on Dec. 12., confirming the news via the pair's FamilyMade newsletter. Johnson East later posted photos of the newborn on Instagram and included the date "12•12•23" and a bear emoji in the post's caption, which appeared to be a hint about the baby's name.

On Sunday, she finally revealed the details her fans had been waiting for — the baby's sex and name.

"Barrett “Bear” Madison East… @bearmadisoneast. We’ve all been waiting for you 🩵," she wrote, officially announcing her son.

The post featured a sweet photo of her family — including kids Jett James, 2, and Drew Hazel, 4 — posing with their newest member. Drew could be seen planting a kiss on her tiny brother's head.

"Our baby boy has finally arrived, and we couldn't be more thrilled," the couple shared with PEOPLE in a statement. "Both baby and mom are doing great, and we are counting our blessings!"

Johnson East also shared more photos of Bear on her Instagram Story on Sunday, including a clip of the baby sleeping against her chest. "Our sweet sweet Bear," she wrote over the photo. "Eating and sleeping like a champ."

She declared the newborn "perfect" on another photo of him swaddled in a cozy blanket. The new mom also posted an image comparing all three of her kids as newborns — showing the uncanny resemblance between the siblings.

In their newsletter, the couple shared that their third baby together was born via cesarean section. At the time, Johnson East and East explained that they had decided to take a few days to spend time with their new arrival as a family before sharing the name and sex of the baby.

"Our baby is healthy and that's all we can ask for!" the mom said in candid quotes she offered in the announcement.

"Recovery is always a process and I've learned to be really patient with my body," she shared. "Not trying to rush anything and really just going to soak it all in. The third time around feels so surreal because even though we've done this twice before, there's still so much nervousness and excitement around the days leading up to the birth and then so much magic once you get to hold your sweet baby in your arms for the first time."

They also revealed the new arrival was particularly exciting for their children.

"Seeing them meet their newest sibling was the sweetest thing EVER. They've been so gentle with the baby and I know they're glad the wait is over, especially Drew," Johnson East said.

Back in July, Shawn announced they were expecting baby no. 3 via Instagram. "Swipe for a surprise ☺️," Johnson East wrote on the series of photos, which featured a picture of the gymnast sitting at an ancient stadium in Greece, and then posing with her bump to the side.

Speaking with PEOPLE soon after, the gymnast said she was most excited about introducing her new baby to her two kids. "I think they will be the greatest and it'll just be exciting to have that moment where we can share it all together," she said.

She also said that her husband was "very excited" about welcoming their newest addition.
