Shaun White's Romantic Night with Nina Dobrev Turned into Double Date with Nick and Priyanka Jonas (Exclusive)

The 3-time Olympic gold medalist in snowboarding, who is releasing his autobiography 'Airborne', spoke to PEOPLE for One Last Thing

Shaun White knows the importance of date nights.

Chatting exclusively with PEOPLE, the Olympic snowboarder, 37, recalled a recent romantic evening in New York City, where he and his girlfriend, actress Nina Dobrev, 34, attended the Broadway musical Kimberly Akimbo.

"We sat down and looked over, and Nick and Priyanka Jonas were next to us," says White in this week's issue. "They’re like, 'We’re on date night too!' "

White, who just released his new autobiography Airborne, spoke to PEOPLE for One Last Thing:

Last time I sang out loud
Yesterday I was on a scooter here in New York City, and Nina and I were riding tandem. I had a little portable speaker. What was the song? It was Fleetwood Mac. It was so fun.

Last time my dog made me laugh
We have two dogs, and one came back from the park and had rolled in goose poop. It was so awful that I couldn’t help but laugh, like, “Don’t get mad when I’m hosing you down later.”

Last recurring dream
After the Korea Olympics [where he won his third gold medal for snowboarding], I kept having one where the cameras weren’t rolling, and they’re like, “You got to do it again!” I’d wake up and clutch the medal.

Last thing I learned about myself
That I’m very handy. I even have a wall now with labeled tools. Small items — don’t get me wrong. I’m not replacing the car engine yet, but one day.
