Leonardo DiCaprio still remembers Sharon Stone’s generosity.

In her 2021 memoir, Stone revealed that she backed hiring a then-unknown DiCaprio for a role in the 1995 movie, The Quick and the Dead.

“The studio said if I wanted him so much, I could pay him out of my own salary — so I did,” wrote Stone.

DiCaprio told E! News this week that he has thanked Stone “many times” for that act.

“I don’t know if I sent her an actual, physical thank-you gift, but I cannot thank her enough,” said the actor.

Stone was a producer on the film, and also asked for Russell Crowe to appear in the movie, directed by Sam Raimi.

“She said, ‘These are the two actors I want to work with,” DiCaprio recalled. “It’s incredible. She’s been a huge champion of cinema and giving other actors opportunities, so I’m very thankful.”

Stone said in the memoir that DiCaprio was the “only one who nailed the audition. In my opinion: he was the only one who came in and cried, begging his father to love him as he died in the scene.”
