Sharna Burgess and Brian Austin Green aren't rushing their wedding planning!

On Friday, the couple announced during an episode of the iHeartRadio podcast Oldish that they have been engaged for two months, following their radio reveal with a sweet joint Instagram post showing their blended family's hands — and Burgess' ring! — and captioned, "our latest chapter."

The same evening Burgess, 38, and Green, 50, attended the iHeartRadio Music Festival at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas and spoke exclusively to PEOPLE about their happy news and plans for the big day!

“We've just kind of kept it to ourselves and our family and immediate friends, like people within our sphere and our circle,” Green says to PEOPLE, adding that he liked that the engagement was just their “moment” with few people knowing.

Still, despite the fact that Green and Burgess have two months under their belts as an engaged couple, they tell PEOPLE they have yet to do any wedding planning.

"We haven't even talked about it at all. We had such a full busy life with things and four kids at home and we're in no rush,” Burgess tells PEOPLE. “Honestly, I'm so grateful to be able to say he's my fiancé, not my boyfriend now.”

Green agrees, noting to PEOPLE that it was “a big thing” to not call his partner of three years his “girlfriend” anymore.

“We have a 15-month-old now. She's honestly a mother to the other kids that are at the house, and it got to that point where it was like, it's not doing justice to what our relationship is,” he adds, referring to the couple's son Zane Walker, 1.

Green also shares sons Noah Shannon, 10, Bodhi Ransom, 9, and Journey River, 7, with ex-wife Megan Fox and son Kassius Lijah, 21, with ex-girlfriend Vanessa Marcil.

Burgess tells PEOPLE that despite their joy, she struggled to figure out how to announce the happy news.

“I spent way too much time thinking about how to announce it,” she says. “Once I really understood my internal dialogue of obsessing over what this photo was going to be and what's the coolest way to do it, I was like, ‘that's just not what this is about.’ And I let go of that completely and just stayed in our world.”

In the end, Green and Burgess shared the ring with fans during a beautiful Instagram video that showed their blended family’s hands being placed on top of each other on Friday.

Green's hand was placed down first and Burgess’ hand was last, showing her wearing the diamond. In between, it appeared that the hands of Zane, Noah, Bodhi and Journey joined in the family moment.

The couple's big news was first announced when Burgess told Oldish podcast host Randy Spelling that she and Green had been engaged for two months but had held back on sharing the happy news until now.

Green revealed he "did the thing" — referring to proposing — during a surprise 50th birthday party Burgess had hosted for him in June. "I was like, 'That's the perfect place to do it,' " Green said. Meanwhile, his now-fiancée said she "never saw it coming."

During the party, the couple recalled to Spelling that Green asked Burgess to join him upstairs and led her to their bedroom. As Green's children joined them — including Journey River holding a red Cartier box — the actor took the box and opened it. Burgess recalled that he asked her, "Will you spend the rest of your life with us?"

"Of course, I said yes," she said, describing Green's proposal as the "most perfect, beautiful moment" because of the involvement of the children.

The couple got engaged just weeks after they celebrated their son Zane's first birthday in June, and back in March, Green told PEOPLE on the 2023 iHeart Radio Awards red carpet that Burgess would go overboard to spoil their little boy on his special day.

"She'll end up buying him a house and stuff like that, a whole bunch of stuff he doesn't need," he said. "But she's just like, 'Oh my God, I have a 1-year-old,' so she's going to go crazy."
