How to watch Shark Week in 2023

Dates: July 23–29

Time: 8 p.m. ET

TV Channel: Discovery Channel

Streaming: Discovery+, Max

When is Shark Week this year?

2023 Shark Week is set to run from Sunday, July 23 through Saturday, July 29.

What channel is Shark Week on?

This year, Shark Week shows will premiere as usual on the Discovery Channel and will stream on Discovery+, but will also be available to watch on Max, since Warner Bros. Discovery’s merger of Discovery+ and HBO Max content.

TBS, TNT, truTV, TLC, Food Network, HGTV, CNN, Travel Channel, Cartoon Network, Adult Swim, Animal Planet, Science Channel, ID, and TCM will also be airing some Shark Week shows and Shark Week–inspired content throughout Shark Week (July 23–July 29)

Where to watch Shark Week 2023:

Thanks to the Warner Bros. Discovery merger, you can now stream Discovery Channel shows on Max! The recently rebranded streaming platform hosts tons of popular shows and movies, including The Last of Us, And Just Like That, Succession and more. Max has three tiers available: an ad-supported basic plan for $10 monthly, an ad-free plan for $16 monthly and an "ultimate ad-free" plan that offers four device streams, 4K Ultra HD, Dolby Atmos sound and up to 100 downloads for $20 monthly. Currently, there's no free trial directly through Max, but you can get your first week free when you subscribe to Max as an add-on through Amazon Prime Video (hint, hint)

While you can now stream Discovery Channel content on HBO's recently rebranded streaming platform, Max, you can also still subscribe straight to the source and stream Discovery Channel content — including Shark Week 2023 — directly through Discovery+. If you're not interested in paying for Max, Discovery+ is a great (and cheaper) alternative way to stream your favorite Discovery Channel shows. Subscribe to the basic plan for $4.99 monthly or go ad-free for $6.99. Discovery+ also offers new subscribers a 7-day free trial, so, hypothetically, you could totally watch all of Shark Week for free...
