Shaquille O'Neal has no problem being an above-average height — with one exception.

The retired NBA player, 51, spoke with PEOPLE for his new commercial promoting Pepsi's new mini cans. The ad sees him wish he was “a little bit smaller” to the tune of Skee-Lo's 1995 hit "I Wish I Was A Little Bit Taller."

In his everyday life, the "only time" he has ever wished he was of a shorter stature is "when it comes to driving sports cars," O'Neal — who is 7′ 1″ — says with a laugh. "That's the only time."

"They've got these Lamborghinis and Ferraris ... [and] I used to have to buy two, shrimp them up, spend a crazy amount of money and take the convertible part off to make myself fit," he continues.

"But that's the only time I've wished I was smaller, so I can get into some of these expensive sports cars," adds O'Neal. "Other than that, I've never had that thought process."

O'Neal's latest ad with Pepsi, which is officially titled "I Wish," comes as the brand celebrates its 125th anniversary.

In the commercial, the father of six is seen struggling with his height on an airplane, while lying in bed, and as he tries to capture a group selfie with friends who are not as tall as him, among other moments.

Towards the end of the clip, O'Neal raps along to the revamped track, as Skee-Lo makes a surprise appearance to join his larger-than-life friend.

Pepsi Mini Cans are currently available in Original, Zero Sugar, Wild Cherry, Diet and Real Sugar flavors. The 7.5-ounce cans come in six and 10 packs, and the Original and Wild Cherry options are also available in a 30-pack.

O'Neal starred in Pepsi's “Big Slam” spot back in 1994.

"Almost 30 years ago we did the 'Big Slam' commercial, talking about how hard it was to be big, and now we get to revisit this original concept and flip the idea on its head with the Pepsi Mini Cans, talking about, 'I wish I was a little bit smaller,' " O'Neal says.

Looking back to the '90s during his first team-up with Pepsi, O'Neal recalls fond memories on set, which were replicated with the new commercial.

"I remember the first commercial, the people at Pepsi letting me add my little touch to the commercial," he details. "I've always had a great relationship with Pepsi, so when they asked me to come around to help represent and sponsor the Pepsi Mini Cans, I thought that was a great idea."
