Shaq Surprised With Laker Statue on ‘Kimmel’
On Wednesday’s Jimmy Kimmel Live, Jimmy showed Shaquille O’Neal a series of statues at the Staples Center of legendary former Lakers. They included Jerry West, Magic Johnson, and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. Then Jimmy revealed a rendering of a statue of a man dunking a ball with the number 34 on his jersey. Jimmy said, “This is a surprise to you, but the Lakers asked me to mention it. This is the statue of you they’re putting up at the Staples Center.” The Big Aristotle, not known to be short of words was speechless, except for the occasional, “Serious?” Shaq went on to say that if he were inducted into the NBA Hall of Fame, he would be announced as a Laker.
