Shannon Sharpe To Be Honored As Webby Advocate Of The Year At 2024 Webby Awards

Shannon Sharpe is being honored for his contributions to the digital landscape. The former professional athlete is set to receive the Webby Advocate of the Year Award at the 28th annual Webby Awards.
According to a press statement, the 55-year-old is being recognized for his significant impact in sports commentary, advocacy for racial equality, education, and health, and his wildly successful podcast, Club Shay Shay. The award is chosen by a committee led by the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) and the International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences (IADAS).
Additionally, the Katt Williams episode of Sharpe’s viral podcast won the Webby Award for Featured Guest, Individual Episodes (Podcasts).
“This year’s Webby Winners represent work at the cutting edge of creativity and innovation,” detailed Claire Graves, President of the Webby Awards.
“They are best-in-class creators, entrepreneurs, and companies who are taking giant strides to make something entirely new to entertain, help, or inform people through the Internet. We can’t wait to celebrate them at the Internet’s biggest night on Monday, May 13th.”
Others recognized in this year’s list of internet greats include Keke Palmer, who will be celebrated with a Webby Special Achievement Award for her work as an actress, activist, and entrepreneur, as well as for her unique brand of digital innovation on projects like Baby, This Is Keke Palmer and KeyTV.
Michelle Obama, JAY-Z, Megan Thee Stallion, Travis Kelce, Spotify, Snoop Dogg, Jon Batiste, Taylor Swift, and more have also all earned awards at this year’s ceremony.
