Jan. 30 (UPI) -- Shannen Doherty is giving an update amid her new "miracle" cancer treatment.

The 52-year-old actress said on Monday's episode of her Let's Be Clear podcast that she's experiencing positive results from a new type of treatment.

Doherty was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015 and went into remission in 2017. In February, Doherty announced her cancer had returned and was stage 4.

On her podcast, Doherty spoke with her radiation oncologist, Dr. Amin Mirhadi, and discussed her new treatment.

"I'm on a new cancer infusion and after four treatments, we didn't really see a difference and everybody wanted me to switch. I just kinda was like, 'We're going to keep going with this and see,'" Doherty said.

"And yeah, after the sixth or seventh treatment we really saw it breaking down the blood brain barrier," she added. "Do I call that a miracle? Yeah. For me, that happens to be a miracle right now. That I sort of rolled the dice and said, 'Let's keep going.'"

Doherty has continued the treatment and is seeing hopeful results.

"And that it's actually breaking down that blood brain barrier is actually a miracle of that drug, a miracle of maybe God intervening and being like, 'I'm gonna give her a break,'" she said. "Sometimes you're looking for miracles in all the wrong places and they're right in front of your face."

Doherty previously gave an update in June 2023, sharing how she was being treated for metastatic brain tumors that appeared on a CT scan that January.

As an actress, Doherty is known for playing Brenda Walsh on Beverly Hills, 90210 and Prue Halliwell on Charmed.
