Shannen Doherty Revealed the Sobering Truth About Marriage With Ex Kurt Iswarienko
Shannen Doherty has been the pinnacle of honesty for so long, especially amid her heartbreaking cancer battle. She’s given fans details about her health, past work experiences, and now, the truth about marriages, specifically her marriage to ex-husband Kurt Iswarienko.
In a conversation with her former fiancé and longtime pal Rob Weiss on her podcast Let’s Be Clear, she discussed that while she loves “the idea of marriage,” it isn’t what defines a strong relationship.

“I believe in that, but after my last brutal marriage, what it taught me is that a piece of paper doesn’t really mean anything,” she said. “It doesn’t stop a person from lying.”
What she said was fair, a marriage license isn’t a magical fixer to make a strong relationship. It takes work, and it can be hard. And we’re happy Doherty is being so vulnerable with her fans and teaching people those hard life lessons.
For those who don’t know, the Heathers alum has been married three times, and engaged three separate other times. She was previously engaged to Rob Weiss from 1995 to 1998, Dean Factor in 1993, and Chris Foufas in 1992. As for her marriages, she married Ashley Hamilton in 1993, and filed for divorce a year later in April 1994. About eight years later, in 2002, Doherty married Rick Salomon, but within less than a year, the marriage was annulled.
Her third marriage was to Iswarienko. They started dating in 2008, and married in Oct 2011. Their marriage ended in April 2023, when Doherty filed for divorce, allegedly due to his infidelity during her cancer treatments, per EOnline.
